Programs
Egg Collection and Incubation | Nest Protection
Description

This charity is permitted to collect nests laid in areas that put them at risk of human disturbance, such as: parking lots, playgrounds, construction sites, trails, and driveways. The eggs are incubated and hatched, the hatchlings are measured, and then released back to a safe location close to the original collection site. Their permit covers all of Waterloo Region and Wellington County (including Guelph) and has a capacity of 2000 eggs. In addition to this, they use nest protectors in areas that are vulnerable but do not require removal.
