Oak Ridges Turtles (ORT) is a turtle conservation initiative focused on protecting native turtle populations and local ecosystems in and around Richmond Hill.
What We Do:

• Monitor and protect nesting turtles and their nests
• Conduct road monitoring to identify fatalities, injuries, and eco-zones
• Collect data and conduct research on turtle activity
• Excavate high-risk nests under MNR permits for incubation
• Transport turtles for medical care and handle releases back into their home wetlands
• Respond to hotline calls and coordinate transport for injured turtles
• Coordinate with municipalities to achieve conservation goals
• Engage residents to promote conservation efforts and environmental education
